Today’s speech attempts to interpret the historical origin and evolution of the robotics industry in the digital economy era from a macro perspective, expound the characteristics and current situation of the artificial intelligence industry, and then propose artificial intelligence 3.0, Internet 3.0 and The trend of blockchain 3.0 integration and its impact model on Industry 4.0.

Characteristics of artificial intelligence industrialization

The formation and development of the artificial intelligence industry is different from the traditional first and second industries. There are four main characteristics:

(1) The artificial intelligence industry needs advances and breakthroughs in basic science. For example, the important frontier of artificial intelligence is to realize the integration with “brain science”, and the research of “brain science” is still in the exploratory stage.

(2) The artificial intelligence industry needs technological breakthroughs as the forerunner. The essence of artificial intelligence is the technological science used to simulate, extend, and expand human intelligence. It always depends on the innovation of its cutting-edge technology. In other words, there is artificial intelligence science and technology first, and then artificial intelligence industrialization. For example, because of the development and application of industrial robots, breakthroughs in motors, transmissions, and controllers are involved.

(3) The artificial intelligence industry requires deep collaboration across industries, departments, and enterprises.

(4) The artificial intelligence industry needs to develop application scenarios, expand and extend the industrial chain, and construct an intelligent industrial structure. In the past two decades, artificial intelligence has used computing power, algorithms and data as its core technologies to promote the digitization and intelligence of an increasing number of industries. At this stage, autonomous driving, biochips, multiple intelligent sensors, knowledge graphs, edge computing, and enhanced intelligence are becoming the most eye-catching areas of the artificial intelligence industry, providing a solid foundation for the intelligent economy and the integration of intelligent economy and digital economy. technical foundation. Because of the above-mentioned characteristics of artificial intelligence industrialization, the artificial intelligence industry always needs to absorb huge and sustained capital and human resources while creating GDP. Capital and human resources are used from basic research, R&D to application.

In 2020, China’s investment and financing in the field of artificial intelligence reached 174.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 73.8% compared to 2019. Obviously, more and more capital will flow into the field of artificial intelligence. Worldwide, China’s investment in artificial intelligence is higher than that of developed countries including the United States.

Realize the combination of artificial intelligence 3.0, Internet 3.0, and blockchain 3.0

Now, artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet are all at a turning point from the 2.0 to 3.0 era.

(1) Artificial intelligence 3.0. Break through the barriers of neuromorphic computing and natural language processing (NLP) technology, which can deal with certainty and uncertainty issues at the same time; relying on big data and a small amount of data can also achieve higher efficiency and continuous learning; high reliability and in line with human settings Ethical standards.

(2) Blockchain 3.0. Based on general-purpose basic public chains, functional basic public chains, industry-based basic public chains, alliance chain open source software and foundations, realize the confirmation of Internet information value and byte property rights.

Main challenges and future in the field of artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is entering this historical stage. In the next five years, the average growth rate of the global artificial intelligence market will exceed 30%. The unstoppable development of artificial intelligence on the one hand, on the other hand, continues to face challenges, at least in the following five aspects:

Challenges in basic science. Although there has been considerable progress in certain subdivisions of artificial intelligence, there is still a long way to go before the realization of general artificial intelligence and so-called “strong artificial intelligence” in basic science. The three major factions of symbolism, connectionism, and behaviorism in the field of artificial intelligence all need the support of basic science.

Hard technical challenges. AI chips will be upgraded in 3 or 4 months, exceeding Moore’s Law. In addition, the framework of the network computing system, breaking through the separation structure of computing, storage, and communication, and enhancing edge computing power all require the participation of artificial intelligence.

Challenges in quantum technology. The time has come to evaluate the impact and consequences of quantum technology on artificial intelligence, and to think about the framework of quantum artificial intelligence (QAI).

Humanities and ethical challenges.

Challenges in terms of talent shortage. The field of AI and big data requires talents with comprehensive qualities: hard-core skills, such as knowledge and skills in artificial intelligence, algorithms, and the Internet, as well as basic knowledge reserves, data analysis, and logical analysis capabilities. There is a serious gap between AI and big data talents.

What is the future of artificial intelligence? Under the premise of acknowledging the considerable development and achievements of artificial intelligence, there are opposing camps. On one side of the camp are conservatives, even pessimists. Representatives include Douglas R. Hofstadte, Stephen Hawking, Elon Musk, and Bill Gates. In 1979, Hofstadter published ” Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid “. [3] The book is supported by the artificial intelligence “Bible”. While the author’s profound interpretation of artificial intelligence in the book, it also shows the author’s conservative stance. A few decades later, Hofstadter’s position on artificial intelligence has evolved into extreme anxiety and pessimism. In 2019, Hofstadter student Melanic Mitchell published “AI 3.0” and raised six key questions about artificial intelligence. The core question is: What are the exciting problems in artificial intelligence that have not been solved? The answer is almost all questions. In a sense, it has inherited and continued Hofstadter’s ideas.

On the other side of the camp are optimists and even radicals. Kurzweil (Ray Kurzweil), mathematician Irving J. Good, and science fiction writer Vernor Vinge (Vernor Vinge) are all representatives of this camp. Kurzweil pointed out that human science and technology are approaching a “singularity”. Among them, the most noteworthy event is that artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence.

To be sure, the disagreement on how to perceive the future of artificial intelligence will continue. However, such differences do not affect the innovation of artificial intelligence technology and the upgrading and expansion of the artificial intelligence industry.

At the conclusion stage of the “Randi International Think Tank Robot Enterprise Special Matchmaking Meeting” on May 15, Professor Zhu Jiaming made a supplementary speech entitled “The artificial intelligence industry is in a state of unbalanced development”, emphasizing the impact of three imbalances:

First, the application of artificial intelligence industry is unbalanced. China’s artificial intelligence industry is developing rapidly, but the overall development of the artificial intelligence industry is facing serious imbalance. If we analyze the structure of the traditional three industries, the secondary industry, especially the manufacturing industry, is relatively closely integrated with artificial intelligence technology. The history of industrial robot development is relatively long. China has a very obvious advantage in the intelligent manufacturing industry and may lead the world. Mayor Huang Qifan’s speech this morning gave a comprehensive explanation of intelligent manufacturing. In recent years, the combination of artificial intelligence and the tertiary industry, that is, the service industry, has developed rapidly. In other words, there is great room and potential for the integration and development of the service industry and artificial intelligence technology. However, the combination of primary industry and artificial intelligence technology is still relatively backward.

Second, the regional distribution of the artificial intelligence industry is unbalanced. On a global scale, North America, the European Union and Japan, as well as South Korea, belong to the developed areas of artificial intelligence technology. China is a country where artificial intelligence technology and industrialization have risen in an all-round way. As for the rest of the world, artificial intelligence technology is relatively backward. In China, the development and application of artificial intelligence technology is also uneven, mainly concentrated in the three major regions of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, which belong to the developed areas of artificial intelligence technology. Among them, the Yangtze River Delta region, Ningbo, Zhejiang is the center of the development of artificial intelligence industry, and Yuyao is the highland of the intelligent industry. Yuyao started the artificial intelligence industry for a full ten years, and a sword has been sharpened in ten years. Today, Yuyao has Hemudu and Wang Yangming in ancient times, and smart industry today. Unfortunately, the northeast and northwest regions are depressions of artificial intelligence technology and industries. Hebei is just around Beijing, and the artificial intelligence industry is still relatively backward. Now it is necessary to draw an information map of the distribution of the artificial intelligence industry. The developed areas with a developed per capita GDP are likely to be the areas with the highest per capita GDP in the intelligent industry.

Third, the imbalance of talents in the artificial intelligence industry. Artificial intelligence technology development and industrial growth require various types of talents. The industry and regional distribution of talents directly affect the development of related industries and regions. Talents need to be introduced and cultivated. In this regard, Yuyao’s successful experience is worth learning.

Today, the Zhuozhou region organized a team to participate in a special matchmaking meeting for Robot Enterprise of Landi International Think Tank. Zhuozhou’s artificial intelligence technology and industry foundation is weak. How Zhuozhou is chasing in the field of artificial intelligence, the core is to select application fields and introduce talents. Today’s meeting focuses on the development potential of service industry robots, which is worthy of Zhuozhou’s consideration. Start with the artificial intelligence service industry, accumulate experience, and then consider artificial intelligence manufacturing.

It is a long-term task to change China’s unbalanced state of artificial intelligence technology development. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the artificial intelligence economy must work hard to improve the overall level of the country and form a gradient development pattern.
