Che Dongxi News on July 26, just now, the domestic automotive chip company Xin Chi Technology announced that it has completed nearly 1 billion yuan of B round of financing.

This round of financing was jointly led by China Development Bank Equipment Fund, a subsidiary of General Capital, and Yunhui Capital, and new shareholders such as Bank of China International, Shanghai Science and Technology Fund, Zhang Jiang Haoheng and other new shareholders joined the investment. Chi old technology core shareholder Matrix Partners China, and Lee capital, Vertex investment continued to add code investment capital, Ningde era continued through the morning tract capital heavily loaded with filler.

It is understood that this round of financing of Xin Chi Technology will be used for the research and development of more advanced process chips. At present, the X9, G9, and V9 chips of the 9 series released by Xin Chi Technology are all based on the 16nm process.

In the industry, smart cockpit chip products of the 7nm process have been pre-installed and mass-produced on vehicles. It is expected that by the end of this year, mass-produced autopilot chips will also use the 7nm process. By 2022, 5nm process automotive chips will also be mass-produced.

At present, the most advanced process chips in the industry are built with 5nm technology, and the development cycle of automotive chips is relatively long, so 7nm process chips have just been mass-produced this year.

At present, the three types of chips X9 (smart cockpit), G9 (central gateway), and V9 (autonomous driving) under Xin Chi Technology all use the 16nm process. This process level has fallen behind in consumer electronics, but in the automotive industry, the 16nm process is the mainstream product. There are even many automotive chip products staying at the 28nm or 45nm level.

However, 16nm is not the end of automotive chips, chip giants are making efforts to deploy more advanced chip products.

This year, many new cars have been equipped with Qualcomm’s third-generation Snapdragon automotive digital cockpit platform. This platform uses the 7nm process, including the 2021 Ideal ONE, Geely Xingyue L, Weimar W6, etc., which have been pre-installed and mass-produced. .

In the field of autonomous driving, Tesla’s self-driving computer Hardware 3 uses the 14nm process. From the end of this year to the beginning of next year, there will be a number of models equipped with NVIDIA Orin autopilot chips, which also use the 7nm process. There is even news that Tesla is also “quietly” developing 5nm process Hardware 4 autopilot chips.

At the same time, Qualcomm also announced that it will mass-produce the fourth-generation Snapdragon car digital cockpit platform based on the 5nm process next year, and its performance may be close to that of the Snapdragon 888, which is the flagship Android phone this year.

It can be seen that, from consumer electronics to smart cars, the chip manufacturing process is one of the key directions pursued by major manufacturers.

Using more advanced process chips means that a larger number of transistors can be stacked in the same area. Therefore, performance and power consumption will be better.

02Completed  three rounds of financing before, and received one million pieces/year

According to public information, Xin Chi Technology has completed three rounds of financing before, and the B round of financing is the fourth round.

In September 2018, XinChi Technology completed an angel round of RMB 100 million in financing. The investors were Sequoia Capital China, Joint Venture Capital, Lenovo Ventures, Beijing Auto Rongtong, Weifeng Investment, Walden International, Huaxin Venture, Yi Ping Investment, Sage Microelectronics, etc.

In May 2019, Xin Chi Technology completed the Pre-A round of financing with a financing scale of hundreds of millions of yuan. The investors are Jingwei China, Xiangfeng Investment China Fund, Lenovo Ventures, Lampoo Capital, Chuangtu Conglin, and Chendao Investment.

From product research and development to fixed-point mass production, Xin Chi Technology has developed very rapidly. Chi-core Technology was established in 2018, in 2019 became China’s first through- the German Rhine ISO26262 security certification semiconductor companies. In 2020, Xin Chi Technology officially released the 9 series of large-scale domain-controlled car regulation chips.

Among them, X9U is developed for the smart cockpit, and the CPU performance reaches 100KDMIPS. This single chip can support 10 screens, including instrumentation, HUD, central control navigation, rear entertainment, DMS, built-in encryption and other multiple functions.

The CPU of the G9 series gateway has been upgraded from a single core to a quad core, among which G9V also supports vision and image processing, and can support body control + instrumentation.

The V9 series of autonomous driving chips have also been significantly upgraded in computing power. V9T has better execution efficiency, higher safety and better scalability.

At the just past World Artificial Intelligence Conference, Xin Chi Technology launched a fully open autonomous driving platform-UniDrive, which allows developers to quickly deploy autonomous driving algorithms and accelerate the mass production of chips on cars.

From L0 level early warning assistance to L2+ level autonomous driving, Xin Chi Technology’s chip product line has been able to cover it completely.

In 2022, Xin Chi will launch an autonomous driving chip between 10 and 200 TOPS-V9P/U. This product has higher computing power integration and can support L3 level autonomous driving.
