Cook said most employees will be required to return to the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the option to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays. For teams that need to work together onsite, they will be required to work in the office four to five days a week. Apple employees also have the opportunity to choose to work entirely online for up to two weeks per year. In addition, Cook is encouraging all employees to get vaccinated against the new pneumonia crown.
However, Apple’s back-to-work policy has been met with resistance from the company’s employees, according to a June 4 report by U.S. tech outlet The Verge. An internal letter showed that employees said they wanted a flexible work style that would allow people who wanted to work remotely to not have to travel to the office.
The internal letter reads, “Apple’s remote/location flexible work policy, and the communication associated with it, has forced some of our colleagues to resign,” w learned. Without the inclusivity that comes with flexibility, many of us feel that we have to make a choice between being able to work at full capacity with our families and physical and mental health, or being part of Apple.”
