On Monday, Shell Parallel Chain was upgraded to Statemine Parallel Chain by the Kusama Board and community vote!

On Tuesday the Kusama Board voted to upgrade Kusama runtime to 9040 Motion 306. Runtime 9040 allows two-way transfers between Kusama and Statemine. This was then converted to Kusama referendum 117, and the motion to upgrade Kusama Runtime to v9040 passed and was implemented on the same day. https://kusama.polkassembly.io/referendum/117

Gavin announced the exact timing of the Kusama auction and other arrangements on Tuesday, and PolkaWorld has compiled some important information to share with you.

There are no more technical issues preventing the parallel chain from going live

The Kusama Council (of which PolkaWorld is a member) will vote on the motion to open the auction on June 15, and then go to a referendum to open the first auction

The first auction is expected to take place on June 15 at 20:00 pm (Beijing time)

The auction will last 7 days, 2 days for bidding and 5 days for the end of the auction. We suggest you vote for the items you want to support in the first 2 days, because the next 5 days will be a random end period.

Kusama will start 5 consecutive auctions first, that is, after one auction ends, the second auction will start immediately. But after the 5 auctions are over, there will be a pause to see how the network works, and then the auction will continue

According to Gavin’s original article, Kusama’s auctions are in part a way to reduce the risk of stepping on the toes for Polkadot’s deployment of auctions, and PolkaWorld expects Polkadot auctions to follow Kusama’s 5 auctions

As of this writing, there are now 7 projects that have launched crowdloan campaigns and have received a total of 491,079 KSMs so far, or about 4.5% of all KSMs, of which

Karura received a total of 348,082 KSMs

Moonriver received a total of 69,560 KSMs

Shiden received 61,656 KSMs

Khala Network received a total of 6,139 KSMs

Crust Shadow received 2,349 KSMs

PolkaSmith received 1,383 KSMs

Darwinia Crab received a total of 584 KSMs

Please note that Ledger-based accounts cannot participate directly in crowdloans, as the Ledger app does not yet support crowdloan.attribute. the Staking rate on the Kusama network has dropped to 47%.

Referendum #119 to set unused account balances has passed. This was used to fix a distribution mismatch between Statemine and Kusama before enabling 2-mode delivery. For more information, see the Polkassembly link: https://kusama.polkassembly.io/referendum/119

In addition to storing the DOT and KSM directly in Polkadot-JS, there are several methods.

The most common and convenient is the Polkadot{.js} plugin. https://github.com/polkadot-js/extension

Another is third-party wallets, such as Polkadot and the Kusama Treasury-funded polkawallet wallet and Fearless Wallet. https://kusama.polkassembly.io/post/449

When sending KSM, please note that the fee will be deducted from the amount you send; unlike transfers, the fee will not be added to the amount (for example, if you send 0.1 KSM to Statemine and the fee is 0.001, your Kusama balance will be reduced by a total of 0.1 and the final KSM on statemine will be (0.999)
