Playboy launches animated NFT, Olympic NFT badge coming soon, Sotheby’s announces auction of world’s first iNFT

Sotheby’s has announced the world’s first “smart” NFT, Playboy is auctioning off “Bunny Jets” tokenized boarding passes, and Olympic-themed NFT collectibles will be available this month.

Playboy, the lifestyle and entertainment brand known for its distinctive logo, has launched its first five animated NFTs on a new NFT marketplace called “Raretoshi,” which is backed by Blockstream’s Liquid sidechain.

The five NFTs were launched during preparations for the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami on June 3.

The NFTs include three Miami-themed animations, an animated magazine cover featuring a bunny model, and a tokenized “bunny boarding pass”.

Collectors can bid on these NFTs using Liquid Bitcoin (L-BTC), an asset on Blockstream’s Liquid sidechain whose supply is anchored 1:1 to Bitcoin.

The maximum starting bid for the “Rabbit Boarding Pass” is 5 L-BTC, valued at approximately $188,315.

However, so far, bidding activity appears to be non-existent, with no bids received for any of the five pieces of artwork as of this writing.

Olympic-themed NFT

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and nWay, a subsidiary of game developer Animoca Brands, have entered into a partnership for the upcoming release of a set of Olympic-themed tokenized NFT pins and a video game.

The Olympic-themed video game will be launched in advance of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, and players will have the opportunity to receive free Olympic NFT collectibles.

These animated 3D badges are designed to commemorate historical events from previous Olympic Games and vary in rarity and value. The first set of badges will be available on nWay on June 17 and can be traded on a peer-to-peer marketplace that will launch shortly after the initial offering.

Smart NFT

Sotheby’s Art Auctioneers announced that it will auction the first-ever intelligent NFT (iNFT), with a bid deadline of June 11.

Called “Alice,” the iNFT depicts an ERC-721 tokenized female robot figure, developed by Robert Alice in collaboration with robotics firm Alethea AI.

The project’s website, thefirstinft, describes Alice: “This is the first ever iNFT, representing the origins of a new medium. Collectors will add this historic iNFT to their collections, and the iNFT will be refined and developed according to its issues.”

According to the site, collectors may actually incur costs in maintaining and updating this iNFT, with the project noting that, “Depending on the collector’s plans for this iNFT, the hosting costs associated with API calls to Alethea AI’s GPT-X will be borne entirely by the collector.”

Alethea AI does, however, offer a one-time free setup for this smart NFT. The NFT has six days left in the auction, with the highest bid currently at $35,000.

The NFT that raised money for Sydney Children’s Hospital

A Melbourne-based digital artist who goes by the Twitter handle “Hipworth” has created an NFT that will be auctioned off at the Gold Dinner Gala on June 10, with all proceeds going to the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

What a brilliant project Independent Reserve has launched. Australia has a wonderful history of supporting NFT charity auctions, according to the F1DeltaTime donation led by Animoca Brands, which raised funds for last year’s forest fire recovery efforts.
Please bid to support a good cause!

The NFT was cast on the NFT Marketplace Makersplace, which depicts a silver animated queen statue with electronic music as a backdrop. People can bid before the Gold Dinner Gala event begins, and the current top bid is $1,000.
