Microsoft Xbox will support AMD’s new FSR technology: benchmarking Nvidia DLSS

June 5 – According to Gamesadar, Microsoft has announced that its Xbox Series X/S will support AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) technology, which was recently announced at COMPUTEX Taipei and provides higher frame rates for game consoles.

In unveiling FSR technology, AMD said it was developed around advanced spatial amplification algorithms that optimize gameplay through ultra-high quality edges and unique pixel detail. In the tests shown, Fall of Gods ran at 49fps at 4K resolution with Ultra Quality enabled, and with FSR on, the frame rate improved to 78fps, a 59% improvement. FSR technology also supports normal quality, balanced and performance modes at 4K resolution, which can increase the game’s FPS by more than two times in this mode.

In addition to Microsoft’s Xbox console, AMD said at the time of the FSR technology release that the Radeon RX 6000, RX 5000, RX 500 and RX Vega series of graphics cards, as well as all Radeon processors with Radeon graphics cards, will be able to enable FSR functionality.

IT House has learned that FSR technology, a graphics processing enhancement, is available to developers and is not automatically applied to hardware upgrades, so it is unclear when games on the Microsoft Xbox Series X/S will support FSR technology.
