Looking at the Metaverse from the perspectives of Heidegger, Zhuangzi and Wang Yangming

“Migrant workers” and “Heidegger”, these two words hand in hand, unexpectedly entered the red carpet of public opinion in 2021 together.

In fact, they are all exploring “how do I exist”, not abruptly at all.

I have always felt that one person’s attachment to another person is a kind of fate brought by one’s fate, and it is a yearning for one’s heart. In this era when anyone can leave a specific person in real life and live independently, I also choose the distant Su Dongpo to heal myself, so I know the meaning of “migrant worker” Chen Zhi using the translation Heidegger. “your own life.

Starting this year, I have always regarded hot spots as reminders and inspirations from the times, so that I can enrich myself with small actions. For example, from this, I went to read Zhang Xianglong’s “Biography of Heidegger”. So this article, I tried to write about this philosopher.

Heidegger’s things are notoriously obscure, and there are so many spontaneous “new words” in them, which were new at the time, but in fact they are still new now.

In the dusk of a cooling sky with a Chinese festival called “Xiaoxue”, I saw that the clouds in the sky were exceptionally gorgeous, so I opened this book. This scene is like what Bing Xin said, “May there be enough clouds in your life to create a beautiful sunset.”

Looking at the Metaverse from the perspectives of Heidegger, Zhuangzi and Wang Yangming

Heidegger was born on September 26, 1889 in a Catholic family in May, Baden, Germany. His father is a low-level clergyman in charge of church chores, such as ringing the bell, and likes “Big Bell Song”; his mother is said to be optimistic by nature, socializing and interesting conversations. For example, she would often say: “Life is so wonderfully arranged that people can always be happy about what happened.”

His ancestors were farmers and craftsmen for generations. He was born after accident and turmoil, and was born in an old house in a makeshift church. At that time, his father was 38 years old and his mother was 31 years old. He is still the eldest son, and one can imagine how happy his parents are.

Heidegger has been fond of swimming, skating, football, gymnastics, hiking, games, etc. since he was a child. He has a particularly deep memory of certain imagery in his childhood. Two things will often appear in his later texts, that is, reverberating for a long time. The sound of the bell, and the call of the field trail.

Theology first affected him. This is the influence of the family environment and the guidance of his spiritual mentor, Father Ge Job, the Bishop of Freiburg. Theology made him think about the meaning of “existence” since high school. For example, in the last year of high school, he read the book “On Existence: An Overview of Ontology” by Freiburg theology professor Karl Buheger.

Later, he was admitted to the seminary at the University of Freiburg. After an accident, he was forced to interrupt theological studies. At this time, he didn’t know what the future would be like. He was cultivated in loneliness, feeling gloomy, and felt that his future was at a loss.

Each period of gloomy low ebb is actually a period of consciousness adaptation for the transformation of life. After that, he was extremely interested in logic and mathematics and was attracted by Husserl’s “Logical Studies”. As a result, he decided to abandon theology and specialize in philosophy.

In the summer of 1913, under the guidance of Arthur Schneider, he completed his doctoral thesis “The Doctrine of Psychological Judgment”.

In 1914, World War I broke out. At the age of 25, he enlisted in the army in August and quit in October due to a recurrence of a heart attack. He did a letter check at the post office for military service and continued to study faculty theses. Therefore, his life has never interrupted his research.

During the First World War, he underwent a major change in faith. Times and people are changing. Those original intentions, foundations, and thinking will also change. Don’t be surprised, don’t panic. Being born as a human being is carrying change.

We often feel that feelings will change and passions will retreat. The divorces of celebrities, the collapse of personal settings, tax turmoil and so on that have been frequently discussed recently are just small waves in the face of changes in the background of the times and thoughts.

Therefore, the collapse and reconstruction of the belief system is not a vigorous thing, it may also appear in daily life. How deeply a person understands change, how well he can understand life.

Heidegger’s changes are complete. He not only completely departed from the Catholic theological and philosophical standpoints, but also gradually surpassed Husserl’s phenomenology of intentional analysis of consciousness, and even Lask’s neo-Kantism and phenomena. A hybrid of learning, the hermeneutics method of “the form of actual life experience itself” has been developed.

What is it in a nutshell? The basis for people to be truly independent is to have their own solid philosophical system, and it must be admitted that this has evolved from a comprehensive foundation of completely heterogeneous thoughts. Only “different” can brew “new”.

In 1919, the ontological hermeneutics thought of “formal display” was born. Heidegger believes that the “meaning of existence” is based on human actual life experience itself as the living source. In all the actual life experience before the dual opposition, there is already a purely relational contextual meaning structure. Facing life itself truthfully and honestly, Heidegger has modernity.

When I wrote “Home”, I mentioned Heidegger’s poetic dwelling and the meaning of home. He is really a philosopher who is very close to Eastern thought among Westerners.

Because he likes the philosophy of Lao Zhuang.

I know I will like him too, because we have a certain piece of conscious woodland in common, and the identification and love of Lao Zhuang since childhood.

As early as the end of the 1920s and 1930s, Heidegger had been familiar with Taoist works such as Lao Zhuang, and he also impromptuly cited the example of Zhuangzi’s “Watching Fish on the Hao Shang” in his speech. In the original 1930 manuscript of “On the Nature of Truth”, Lao Tzu’s 28 chapter “knowing what is white and guarding what is black” was also quoted to explain the problem of truth. He even translated The Tao Te Ching with Chinese scholar Xiao Shiyi.

Taoism’s thought of “all things bear yin to embrace yang, and urge to think of harmony” directly influenced his later view of truth.

Zhuangzi and Heidegger, a representative of ancient Chinese Taoism before Qin Dynasty, and a representative of Western modern existentialism. The biggest similarity between them turned out to be this! A concept that made me fall in love at first sight since I was a child.

What kind of attitude should people take towards things? Their common answer is, “Just let it go.”

What is to let it calmly is to let things exist as they are. That is to go with the flow.

What is nature? One is a whole composed of minerals, animals, plants, human beings, etc., which is all things in the world; the other is natural, and nature is one’s own nature.

In Zhuangzi, inaction is not inaction, but the natural inaction. The nature of the sky is clarity, and the nature of the earth is tranquility. As long as the heavens and the earth operate in accordance with their respective natures, everything in it will regenerate on its own. But to manage things is artificial, and people use skills to manage things, which is a kind of arrogance.

Zhuangzi once put forward that “injury to one’s body is to be sacrificed”. In order to make a living, people devote themselves to skills, thus hurting their own nature. When people change things, they will also be changed by things, and become “inverted people” who “lost oneself in things and lose their sex in the common.” Fettered by worldly things and unable to liberate one’s nature, he is a person who lives in a muddle and muddle-headed manner.

The true health preservation is to let life maintain its own temperament. The highest state that Zhuangzi pursues is Xianyao, and the biggest characteristic of Xianyao is “Waiyao”.

What is “to be”? One is the treatment, in this context, full of external objects oppressing oneself; the second is the treatment of reliance, the realization of oneself depends on the external objects, so the external objects are also full of restrictions on themselves.

Heidegger’s calmness makes it a bit difficult to understand. He roughly said that people escape the shackles of thought in reality, because the nature of thought is not the calculation of beings, but the contemplation of existence. The world is not only calculated by people as appearances, but also as energy to be consumed by people. Let us not do anything, but wait. Waiting is not about passively doing nothing, but actively preparing for your stay.

The concept of “self stay” is very important. To explain this, another concept must be added, called “clearing in the forest.”

Although the “clearing in the forest” brings light, it does not eliminate the darkness. Therefore, the clearing in the forest allows light and darkness to play with each other, relying on it to allow the former to cover itself and the latter to cover itself. Like a clearing in the forest, the vast expanse also gives the objects that enter it the freedom to hide and show, that is, “let it calmly”.

There is a “stay of oneself”, so everything is “rested in the vast stay to which it belongs.” This attitude of letting things go in and out of the world is “die Gelassenheit zu den Dingen” (die Gelassenheit zu den Dingen), and “letting things calmly” means an open state to mystery. It is also to allow the world to change and maintain the “self-stay”.

I am not the set of things instilled in you by the world and the native family, but the meaning you have been searching for. In this process, you are breaking and rebuilding in an incredibly honest way. This process takes place extremely naturally, and you cannot see clearly Why on earth came to this situation, but it is here.

Zhuangzi’s “Let it calmly” emphasizes man’s adaptation to nature, while Heidegger’s “Let it calmly” is the openness of thought to existence. The mind cannot be closed in the first place, it must remain open.

Looking at the Metaverse from the perspectives of Heidegger, Zhuangzi and Wang Yangming

Therefore, it is an interesting thing to look at the meta universe from the perspectives of Heidegger, Zhuangzi, and Wang Yangming.

Some people say that we have built virtual worlds such as the Internet by ourselves, and the emergence of virtual worlds just fills the spiritual space of nothingness. This easily leads us to deny the meaning of reality and find meaning in the virtual world, for example, many people are immersed in games.

The emergence of the meta-universe seems to be exploring the path between reality and virtuality. I recently received an NFT gift, and I feel this way. No matter how long the concept of meta universe will be popular, in short, people’s efforts to break the boundary between reality and virtuality will not stop.

According to Heidegger’s theory, thoughts cannot be closed, and to remain open to existence, you never know whether our real world itself is dominated by a higher-dimensional spirit; and Zhuang Zhou’s Mengdie itself opens up people and things. Wang Yangming is more direct, “The universe is my heart, and my heart is the universe.”

Mr. Zhang Xianglong’s “Biography of Heidegger” translated Heidegger’s Dasein as “predestined existence”.

Dependent emptiness is the core proposition of Buddhist Madhyamika that was introduced to our country during the Wei and Jin Dynasties. It advocates that everything is dependent on each other and opposes all independent and autonomous substantives. It is similar to Heidegger’s antisubstantialism. Similarities.

In our world where virtual and reality are increasingly connected, more random events and various changes occur at any time. People are not only trapped by the stimulation and pressure of real life, but also captured by various information and correlations.

Ereingnis means “events” in German, but what Heidegger wants to show is that the existence of any self or being is fundamentally not ready-made, but only in a kind of mutual traction and back and forth. The conditional formation that occurs is called “the conditional formation of oneself” or “the formation of conditional formation”.

All this shows that the wise men are connected in some aspects, and they are working together to break through the limitations of human thinking.

The simple composition of a big event is actually not simple. Individuals in a big era must have the ability to adapt to changes. We are now at any time likely to be affected by the destiny and life of various people who seemed to have nothing in our lives before, which makes us more dependent on philosophy. People are often forced to quarantine at every turn, and they can use philosophy to cultivate their moral character. I am roughly facing this state now.

Heidegger has commented on many philosophers and thinkers throughout his life, but he only gave Holderlin and Laozi his unreserved appreciation and highest respect.

Holderlin had a mental disorder in 1802, and his condition worsened in 1807. Before his death in 1843, he wrote “The Poem of the Tower”. He tried to get rid of the care and pain of the world, and get rid of the hopeless feeling of fighting against fate, beauty The sentimentality, the dark melancholy…Only in this way can we focus almost completely on the nature of the spring and autumn seasons, and be in its tranquility, clarity, and inner ecstasy without waiting.

“The world is dressed up, and the sound of drifting across the open fields only rang softly. The sun warms up the warm autumn day, and the fields stand quietly like a stretch of vision, and the breeze blows.”
