On October 19th, the 2021 World VR Industry Conference officially opened at the Greenland Primus Hotel in Nanchang International Expo City.

The conference was launched around the theme of “VR Makes the World More Wonderful, Fusion, Development and Innovative Applications”, and an integrated cooperation and exchange platform of “Industry, Government, Research, and Application” was built.

According to Liu Wenqiang, vice president of China Electronics Information Industry Development Research Institute and Secretary-General of the Virtual Reality Industry, the cumulative amount of investment and financing in the VR industry from January to September 2021 is as high as 20.709 billion yuan, and the amount and quantity exceed the total amount of previous years.

Standing at the turning point of the times, the next generation of Internet media and platforms are coming. To further explore the VR industry, the 2021 World VR Industry Conference also invited HTC, Huawei, Ubisoft, Hewlett-Packard, Virtual Dot, Kuaishou, popular Qitian and other industry leaders to give keynote speeches, and their company’s vision for the future of VR Insights.

Huawei’s vision is to bring the digital world to everyone, every family, and every organization, and build an intelligent world with all things connected. Everyone has their own thinking about what is the digital world, and of course Huawei also has it.

In 2018, Huawei used PS technology to depict the digital world in its own eyes. In the space, you can get information about every person and every item. For example, each person’s identity, hobbies, and information on preferential items in the vending machine will be presented in a three-dimensional suspension. And this information can be obtained through different hardware devices such as smart glasses and mobile phones.

Why does Huawei have such a vision? Mainly out of two considerations.

We believe that the presentation of the real world is actually the expression of individual senses to the outside world, and what the senses perceive is information. Every innovation in the acquisition, recording, and sharing of information is likely to bring about the revolution of human civilization and the progress of society.

“Cangjie made the characters, the ghosts cry”, for the first time, mankind recorded the world. Subsequent development from text to images, audio and video, such as movable type printing, cameras, phonographs, cameras, etc., has greatly changed the dimensions of the entire recording world. What will be the next step?

Based on years of information technology research, Huawei defines the next stage as “holographic”, which is why Huawei believes that the next generation of the Internet will be the “holographic Internet.”

Why is holographic? First of all, we think that it will be a three-dimensional presentation at least visually, including sound. If there are revolutionary advances in the collection and presentation of smell and touch, these two pieces of information will also be included in the “holographic”.

The second point is that we believe that the convenience and optimization of information access will greatly improve the efficiency of social production.

After the popularization of books, human civilization has reached a higher level. Later, the telegraph and telephone were invented, and all communication efficiency was qualitatively improved, which promoted the industrial revolution. Later, the birth of the Internet brought a big explosion of knowledge.

With the popularization of smartphone camera photography functions, the entire entertainment industry ushered in rapid development.

However, we believe that these are not the most natural ways to obtain information. We believe that the most natural way to obtain information should include the following characteristics:

Turn the world into a panel for information display; turn the world into a desktop that can be clicked; turn the world into a drawing board for doodles; turn the world into a paradise for games; turn the interaction between humans and machines into humans and Interaction of the world.

Because people live in the entire space, we believe that the most natural way for people to obtain information should be directly in the space. Simply put, what you see is what you get.

This is Huawei’s vision for the future world. To this end, Huawei established the “Cyber+verse” (digital universe) project in 2018.

Although it is different from the meta universe and various universes in terms of name, everyone’s goal is actually the same. We all hope to build an evolving virtual world that seamlessly integrates with the real world. This world will be very big, and it will be as big as the earth in the end.

We use the technology to create a digital world to change the way information is obtained and presented, and help build the next-generation network platform-the holographic Internet. Of course, we also gave it a meaningful Chinese name “河图”, because “河图” and “Luoshu” are the two symbols of the earliest origins of Chinese civilization, and they are the codes for deconstructing the universe’s Rubik’s Cube.

At present, Huawei Hemap has implemented some preliminary application scenarios, including Huawei’s AR map to open Dunhuang “Flying Tour”, Nanchang August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall VR intelligent explanation experience, AR glasses presenting the Wannian Yongbao Exhibition, etc.

In general, the current application scenarios include “new navigation methods”, “new virtual experiences”, “culture alive”, “virtual activities”, “integrated navigation” and “reverse search for objects”, etc.

What else can Huawei Hetu do in the future? We think it also includes: a panel for information display, a desktop that can be clicked, a drawing board that can be painted, and a paradise that can be played.

How does Huawei act as such? We have eight plans:

Physical world layer: the real world; digital impressions of the physical world: digital modeling of lasers, images, videos, etc.; semantic layer: extracting features and semantics using AI abstraction; geographic information layer: binding abstract and actual geographic coordinates of the real world.

Data layer: Aggregate POI information, which is the origination layer of future search; Communication layer: Account permission information, future social interaction will occur at this layer; Content layer: Official content, mainly covering high-value areas; User content layer: Enriching the river through UGC Graph the contents of the world.

On the one hand, Huawei Hetu has created a holographic space generation platform (multi-data fusion -> high-precision spatial information). This helps control production efficiency and cost.

The second step is to realize the virtual world. To truly express the virtual world in the real space, this requires the combination of high-realistic rendering technology.

In addition, in order to connect the virtual world and the real world, Huawei has added ” centimeter-level spatial calculations .” Its function is to connect the information of the two worlds together so that each spatial location can become an IP address. Then through the strong AI environment understanding , users can directly obtain the information they want.

After completing the above-mentioned low-level buildings, Huawei will also increase its investment in content ecology. Including providing developers with 100,000+ massive resources, easy modeling application tools, encouraging co-creation and sharing, and creating a sustainable content market environment.

Luo Wei believes that when all these are completed, it is possible to truly realize the integration of the virtual world and the real world.
