Getting Started with the Ether Metaverse: Virtual Land Auction

Ethernet + NFT = Metaverse Shared Infrastructure

Virtual worlds have become increasingly important to humanity in recent decades, and I believe that these VR worlds will gradually become the focus of Ether in the next few decades.

Ether is already energizing a vibrant ecosystem of teenage virtual worlds through NFT, and this digital frontier can grow exponentially as these technologies advance.

So how do you carve out your place in this frontier?

In today’s Metaversal article, I offer a few primers.

Focus on the Metaverse
In the future, the Internet will no longer be limited to static, flat websites. Instead, we will increasingly see the dominance of virtual spaces that are interconnected to form the metaverse (i.e., the collection of all connected virtual reality environments).

That said, one of the most interesting verticals for Ether right now is the VR scene, due to the fact that Ether and NFT, which are used to create and track VR plots, provide a common economic infrastructure for projects to build and for users to interact with at any time.

In other words, your ETH, ERC-20 tokens, and NFT are all commodities in Ether’s young meta-universe, which opens up powerful possibilities. These possibilities help drive Ether’s VR projects, such as Cryptovoxels, Decentraland, Somnium Space, and The Sandbox.

Starting with virtual land
We’ve already seen creators use Ether VR lands for a variety of purposes, such as art galleries, gaming tournaments, weekly parties, and more. As the 21st century proves to be the hyper-digital century, we are likely to continue to see a massive migration from the physical to the digital world in the coming years.

In other words, in the future, the metaverse has the potential to be really exciting. Therefore, using and participating in promising ethereal VR projects is a hands-on way to establish your own personal claim in the future. So where to start?

First, let me say that these frontier areas are best suited for builders who have plans to use these virtual plots. That way, you will get some satisfaction out of whatever happens in the crypto and NFT markets.

Now, assuming you are interested in viewing and buying/selling NFT land from multiple projects, an easy place to do so is OpenSea, which is the premier NFT marketplace on ethereum.

What you can do is set up a custom search for the 4 projects mentioned above, namely Cryptovoxels, Decentraland, Somnium Space, and The Sandbox, and then sort the prices by “low to high”. You must first scroll through some assets so that you can browse everything through a single interface. Or, you can visit the websites of these projects to see their respective dedicated markets.

As for the reserve price, here’s what it looks like at the moment

A Sandbox land is worth 2,999 SAND (about $900)

A piece of Decentraland land is worth 4,486 MANA (approx. 3600 USD)

One Cryptovoxels land is worth 1.49 ETH (about $3800)

One Somnium Space land is worth 1.62 ETH (about $4150)

If you want to make any transactions, you just need to connect your wallet to OpenSea or the corresponding project marketplace and you’re good to go. The price of these virtual lands is already high enough to discourage many buyers, but there is no denying that with the surge in popularity of the NFT and metaverse concepts in the last year and a half, the market has seen an increase in demand for top-tier VR projects in ethereum. Of course, I do suspect that these markets will experience considerable volatility in the coming years and we will undoubtedly see more price-friendly projects emerge.

There’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to picking a land, it all depends on what you’re personally looking for. Want to build a huge virtual headquarters for your ethereum project? Then you’ll need to pay a large sum of money for it.

Want your building to be at the heart of the metaverse’s rich cultural scene? Try targeting the most active areas, where you’ll see great adjacent buildings.

Conclusion
The meta-universe scene of Ether is starting to unfold, and thanks to advances in Web 3.0 and scaling solutions, the possibilities are endless and seem to be growing all the time. In the future, new communities, ideas, and businesses will be born here, and over time, there may eventually be many virtual worlds based on Ether and NFT. Until then, it’s cool to be able to play and work in this frontier space.
