The Future of Work: Why Digital Organizations Are the Prospect of a Decentralized Future of Work, by David Hoffman
A History of ‘The DAO Hack’ by Hack
And much more!
Blockchain technology has fundamentally changed the financial system. However, features such as trustlessness and immutability are not only useful in cryptocurrency applications, but another potential application scenario is governance. Blockchains can enable entirely new types of organizations that can operate autonomously without the need for coordination by a central entity.
“Instead of a sectional structure where a group of people interact personally and are governed by a legal system that controls property, decentralized organizations are governed by a group of people interacting with each other according to protocols specified in code and enforced on the blockchain.” – Vitalik Buterin
Simply put, a DAO is an organization governed by computer code and programs. As such, it has the ability to operate autonomously and does not require a central authority.
Just as DeFi is programmable currency and NFT is programmable media, DAOs are programmable human organizations.

Aragon introduces Vocdoni – a decentralized governance platform for traditional organizations. the Vocdoni digital voting protocol introduces an unparalleled layer of security, trust and efficiency to the standard guarantees of the governance process enjoyed by associations, cooperatives, unions, companies and municipal councils. It provides a simple way for traditional organizations to take advantage of some tools that until now were only available to digital native organizations: fully transparent but anonymous voting, direct communication between the organization and its social base, and a set of membership and financial management solutions.
You can try it out for yourself on vocdoni.app. In this first version, Vocdoni will offer the following features.
The creation of sovereign entities where you and a designated administrator are the only users able to manage the organization.
Create unlimited polling programs for all your governance needs through an easy to use and intuitive interface.
Instantly enable voting rights for each voting process you create.
Configure voting programs with multiple options, including real-time and encrypted, time-locked results.
Configure the voting process to start and end at preset times, both programmatically and manually.
Guarantee voting confidentiality between voting participants and external third parties.
Customize the voting experience by embedding your campaign live on the landing page of the poll and attaching supplementary resources (e.g. quizzes, reports, documents, etc.) to be made available during the voting process.
Aragon’s vision for Vocdoni is to drive its development beyond digital voting as a mechanism to constrain participation and release signals.
The first instance of Aragon OpenStack – Aragon Voice – is now running on the ethereum mainnet.
Aragon Voice is a key component of Web 3.0’s voting infrastructure, driving unstoppable decentralized governance at zero voting cost. For the first time ever, anyone with an Ethernet address can design and implement On-Chain Proposals for their ERC20 project, where voting costs no gas and is recorded as metadata to Ether and IPFS, or use Signaling Proposals with a centralized backend, but on our custom voting count blockchain Vochain is universally verifiable. Only the creator of the On-Chain Proposal needs to pay the cost of gas to deploy the information to the main network.

Interested in new ways to collaborate and coordinate?DAOs are described as the next frontier of human organization, but is this true? What exactly are DAOs? What role might they play in our future, how does the reality of DAO differ from the theory, and what does DAO mean for you and the work you do? The panel explored the question: Do DAOs provide us with better collaboration and coordination? What does this mean for our work, our organizations, and the world?
DAO Discussion 2: Does DAO offer us a new way to govern the commons, and can DAO be an important tool for governing the commons? What does this mean for the way we organize and manage our shared resources?

API3DAO Core Technical Team Development Report.
May 2021 was a particularly productive month regarding DAO development, which also interrupted the DAO & Staking series (1, 2, 3).
The serverless framework dependency in the Airnode deployer has been replaced with Terraform. this will make it easier to port Airnode to other cloud providers and to scale it with additional cloud infrastructure (or add it as a module to existing infrastructure).
Work continues on the dAPI contract. Considering that dAPI is a fairly siloed vertical in terms of implementation and operations, the creation of a dAPI team independent of the core technical team is in the pipeline. This includes having a separate DAO development team and ongoing integration work by members of the business development team, which allows the core technology team to focus more on Airnode, which should lead to increased efficiency.
API3 and Moonbeam bring off-chain APIs to Polkadot.
API3 has been integrated with Moonbeam, a project that simplifies the process of scaling ethereum applications to the Polkadot ecosystem by making APIs effortlessly available to multi-chain applications. Moonbeam provides a complete implementation of Ethereum on Substrate and allows Ethereum developers to minimize changes to existing smart contracts and Moonbeam benefits from lower gas costs than Ethereum, and the cross-chain capabilities of Polkadot.
Partnership with Credmark.
Credmark has built a data platform that allows developers to build, test and publish risk-adjusted financial models. One of the most important requirements for creating these models is the use of highly accurate and reliable data sources, as well as having a variety of different data types. API3 will work with Credmark to provide such data sources and make Credmark’s data available to all supported blockchains through Airnode.
Partnering with Shield Finance.
Shield Finance is a multi-chain DeFi insurance aggregator. Shield Finance will deploy the Market Crash Protection (MCP) contract for API3 and assist API3 in making this functionality available to API3’s community. Once operational, Shield Finance will also explore opportunities to use API3’s dAPIs (data feeds).
Announces Partnership with HAI DAMO.
API3 announces a partnership with Hedge Against Inflation DAMO (Decentralized Asset Management Organization). Hedge Against Inflation is a project that aims to minimize the risks associated with the inherent volatility of the cryptocurrency market. API3 will provide API data and dAPIs supporting Airnode to achieve this goal.
There are no active API3 governance proposals for these weeks.
BadgerDAO and Polygon partner to bring Bitcoin Crosschain: BadgerDAO will partner with Polygon to accelerate Bitcoin adoption and utility on its network. badgerDAO’s mission is to bring BTC to DeFi, and it wants to make it as easy as possible for users to use their Bitcoin for places where it has big utility. In the past few months, we’ve witnessed Polygon’s explosive growth, with over $7.4 billion worth of assets locked up and $1.3 billion worth of BTC already being utilized in protocols like Aave and Sushiswap. This is a clear indication of the demand for BTC, and together with Polygon, BadgerDAO can help increase this footprint significantly.

Introduction of the INDEX token.
Index Coop is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that exists to create and maintain crypto-native structured products built on DeFi asset management primitives, such as Set Protocol. As a DAO, Index Coop is managed by its community members. They collectively propose and vote on new products, the allocation of treasuries, and the future direction of the DAO. This is where INDEX excels.
Index Coop delegates control of parameters to Multisig.
This change was made to avoid future failed votes on key parameter changes. Since its inception last fall, Index Coop has generally seen strong voter participation. However, with the launch of leveraged indices for ETH and BTC, the demands on governance have increased significantly. In the past month, the failure to pass key proposed parameter changes has led the community to reevaluate its governance process.
View from the Bird’s Nest #30.
This newsletter is designed to share our weekly work in the Coop, highlighting the progress of the product, governance, and the index community as a whole.

LidoDAO proposes a positive vote on the basic update.
Future verifier limit increases will be approved by default unless the challenge threshold is met.
Similar to Index Coop, Lido DAO has encountered problems with proposed changes to key parameters. lido maintains diversification and mitigates staking risk by spreading verifier deposits across numerous staking service providers. lido voters are responsible for regularly increasing the maximum verifier limit per provider to accommodate new deposits. However, these regular votes have recently run into difficulties.
LidoDAO’s Aragon Governance Implementation Requirements
At least 5% support for even basic proposals. With many large cryptocurrency investors busy with the BTC conference in Miami this past week, the DAO was unable to reach a quorum, causing the limit update proposal to fail. This in turn delayed the entry of newly deposited Ether into the beacon chain, which will have a marginal negative impact on stETH’s earnings.

Uniswap v3 has been deployed to the Arbitrum master network.
After a few months of relative inactivity, Uniswap governance has begun to see a flurry of activity. This is a welcome change for a protocol that had been criticized for its lack of participation.
The first proposal to break the seal [closed on May 28] was submitted by former Maker developer and community member Andy8052. He advocated launching on Arbitrum to enable Uniswap to better serve users of various EVM-compatible networks. While this may seem like a no-brainer, there are several reasons why this is the case.
