Jakarta, Indonesia-based crypto company Pintu has reportedly secured $6 million in an extended Series A funding round led by Dan Morehead’s Pantera Capital. Other notable institutions from the space participated in the funding round, including US-based crypto exchange Coinbase, Blockchain Ventures and local investor Intudo Ventures.

When contacted by DailySocial, the company did not deny the news and said it would share more information later.

Pintu drives investment in crypto assets. It also runs an educational program called Pintu Academy, where users can access learning materials about cryptocurrencies, with a mission to support and attract new cryptocurrency investors. The company has also completed its registration and licensing with the country’s Ministry of Trade Futures Trading Supervisory Commission (Bappebti) and the Ministry of Communications and Information (Kominfo).

In a previous DailySocial interview, Pintu founder Jeth Soetoyo said people are increasingly enthusiastic about crypto investments. As a result, education about the industry is a crucial factor, he said, as investors must understand the fundamentals of the tool.

Prior to Pintu, Soetoyo founded PT Rupiah Token Indonesia, which developed a stable coin called Rupiah Token or IDRT. The price of this ethereum-based token is pegged to the Indonesian currency, the rupiah, on a 1:1 basis. In addition to more volatile cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, stablecoins offer some stability and are backed by reserve assets.
