Andreessen blocked Jack Jack from Winklevoss, the battle between Bitcoin and Web3 continues

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Web3 supporters once again had a dispute on Twitter.

According to previous reports by “Betwee”, Dorsey and his supporters (including Musk) claimed that Web3 is not a decentralized dream as its preachers preached, but a tumult controlled by venture capitalists. Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, is one of the evangelists. Andreessen Horowitz is Web3’s largest investor and most resounding advocate.

Andreessen is obviously not satisfied with Dorsey’s view of the future of cryptocurrency. He hacked Dorsey on Twitter and prevented Dorsey from seeing his tweets or communicating with him on the platform.

Andreessen himself was probably irritated by an earlier tweet, in which Dorsey reiterated his position that Web3 is an empty promise. He shared a cartoon in which venture capitalists swallowed all resources, leaving only a trickle for ordinary investors:

Dorsey also responded to this. He removed attention from Andreessen and other famous crypto figures, including Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.

The dispute between Dorsey and Andreessen Horowitz also meant a split between the leading cryptocurrency figures. Although Dorsey’s tweets pose a refreshing challenge to the convergent thinking that often appears in Web3 discussions, it also reflects his own interests.

Dorsey is known as the Bitcoin maximalist in the cryptocurrency world-Bitcoin is more valued than Ethereum and other blockchains that have gained more and more appeal in recent years. He promoted a payment and NFT strategy around Bitcoin. Given that the current versatility of the Bitcoin blockchain is far inferior to that of Ethereum and Solana, some people think this decision is strange.

Although the faction of Bitcoin maximalism has been around for a long time, until now, there has not been a supporter like Dorsey. Dorsey is a leading figure in Silicon Valley and the founder and CEO of payment company Square.

The CEO of Bitcoin payment company Strike also tweeted this week that a16z partner Chris Dixon had blacked him.

As for Dorsey, his dislike of Web3 may not only stem from his love for Bitcoin, but also from his worries: a new world of decentralized, blockchain-based applications may threaten the two companies he founded Square And Twitter.

This may be reflected in Dorsey’s recent attack on David Sacks, another venture capitalist who supports Web3.

Of course, all of this may disappear in the next few weeks. But Dorsey and Andreessen’s quarrel may also deepen the differences between Bitcoin purists and Web3 evangelists, which may shape the landscape of the crypto space in the next few years.
