Google launches AR project codenamed “Project Iris” to enter the Metaverse market

On January 21, according to The Verge, Google is designing and developing an augmented reality (AR) project code-named “Project Iris”, which is expected to be available in 2024, aiming to enter the Metaverse market. It is reported that Project Iris is mainly led by a team of about 300 people led by Clay Bavor. Clay Bavor has been responsible for the development of AR and VR technologies at Google for many years. Other key team members developing Project Iris include Scott Huffman, who built Google Assistance, Shahram Izadi, head of ARCore, and others.
