Tanzania’s Central Bank Says It’s Pushing for Presidential Cryptocurrency Policy

Tanzania’s central bank said it is working to implement President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive to prepare for cryptocurrencies and said it may revoke the ban imposed in 2019, according to Reuters. A spokesman for Tanzania’s central bank did not answer questions about whether the bank plans to adopt existing cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, or issue its own digital currency. In previous news, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan had urged the central bank to start exploring crypto assets.
