Judge Grants U.S. SEC Request for 60-Day Extension of Discovery in Ripple Case

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) request to extend the discovery deadline in the Ripple case by 60 days has been approved by District Judge Sarah Netburn, according to U.T. Today. The deadline for expedited discovery will be extended until Aug. 31, and expert discovery will continue through Oct. 15. Ripple strongly opposed the request, claiming that delaying the proceedings would pose an “existential threat” to its business in the United States. “. In particular, Ripple cited its cross-border payments product, On-Demand Liquidity, as being unable to operate efficiently in the U.S. due to the exchange’s liquidation of XRP or suspension of trading.
