Iranian President Rouhani has called for a legal framework for cryptocurrency transactions, according to CoinTelegram. At a meeting of the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee on Tuesday, Rouhani stressed the need to legalize cryptocurrency activities in order to preserve and protect the country’s interests. Rouhani said the country must pay attention to the legal and technical requirements regarding cryptocurrencies and digital currencies. Noting the risks of cryptocurrency transactions, Rouhani stressed that people’s awareness in this field is necessary to avoid the entry of non-professionals. Rouhani called for a joint study to establish a legal framework for cryptocurrencies. He said, “Responsible institutions in the field of capital markets should cooperate with the media and cyberspace in terms of information, education and public awareness of this phenomenon and its instructions and laws.” He also clarified that cryptocurrency mining is still prohibited until the end of summer.
