Ripple Asks US SEC to Hand Over Documents Related to Ongoing Litigation

Lawyers representing Ripple Labs, its CEO Brad Garlinghouse and co-founder Chris Larsen recently filed a motion asking the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to provide two sets of documents the company requested earlier this year, CoinDesk reports. The documents concern communications the SEC made with third parties about cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, XRP or ethereum. Ripple is trying to force the SEC to disclose why it views XRP differently than bitcoin and ethereum (bitcoin and ethereum are commodities, while XRP is a security).
