5 Ways to Increase Brand Awareness with NFTs

NFTs are reshaping the internet and viewing digital assets and content such as blog posts, images, videos, audio files, and more. As a result, businesses around the world are now diving into the NFT space, trying to gain an early adopter edge and capitalize on what is fast becoming a secular trend.

Trends range from monetizing NFTs to using them as novel forms of marketing and everything in between. In this article, I will share five different ways you can use NFTs to increase your brand awareness.

What is NFT?

NFTs or non-fungible tokens are unique digital items or assets that you can trade on specialized platforms like OpenSea and other NFT marketplaces powered by cryptocurrency exchanges. They’re like crypto collectibles, but instead of owning them just for their novelty value, you can use them to do things in the real world or the Metaverse.

Irreplaceability describes the uniqueness and irreplaceability of a token, like a piece of irreplaceable art, or furniture in your home that is unique in other ways as well.

But think: digital image assets.

Uniqueness makes NFTs ideal for tracking and accounting for digital assets, but also makes them ideal for representing ownership of any type of asset, both physical and digital.

How do NFTs work?

NFTs are digital assets that exist on the Ethereum blockchain as smart contracts that can be used to represent real-world assets such as cars or artwork. They record ownership information and other metadata for assets on the blockchain through minting. The blockchain is a decentralized electronic ledger that is tamper-proof, meaning it cannot be changed after it has been recorded.

The token’s unique ID and other metadata are used to track NFT ownership. These bits and pieces of information are different for each token, making each token unique and irreplaceable. When we mint NFTs, smart contracts are used to assign ownership, manage the transferability of the tokens, and add them to the Ethereum blockchain.

When the owner of an NFT sells their NFT, they use the private key to authorize the transaction, and the transfer of ownership occurs once the authenticity of the private key is verified in the blockchain. This bypasses the need for trust between the two parties involved and the need for a central authority or another third party to verify the authenticity of each claim.

How to use NFTs to build brand awareness

NFTs are becoming increasingly important to companies as they can represent a wide variety of items from digital sketches and photos to podcasts, videos and any other form of creative work.

Furthermore, the underlying smart contracts can be used in many other ways, giving the token unique functions and properties that add additional value.

As a result, new approaches to brand storytelling and audience engagement have emerged, allowing companies to use NFTs to increase brand awareness, as shown below.

Marking Events: Admission Marking

Gary Vaynerchuk is a Belarusian-American entrepreneur, author, public speaker, and influencer. He has been experimenting with using NFTs to increase the visibility of his personal brand. He did this very creatively by tokenizing the event, i.e. by minting NFTs that doubled as an admission token for the different workshops and conferences he organized.

Using tokens to attend his events is a way to use NFTs to increase the number of people interacting with his brand, anyone can do it.

For example, let’s say you run a marketing agency and want to build awareness of your brand. One way to achieve this is to organize regular workshops, classes, meetups, or any other type of event that your potential clients may enjoy.

Then you create a series of NFTs (which can be any kind of digital assets like images, audio recordings, videos, etc.), possibly collectible, and add a condition to the contract that grants the owner access to that event.

Interested parties can purchase NFTs to participate in the event while getting a unique piece of digital art or something more relevant to your specific industry.

Use NFTs to capture key highlights from your brand’s history

Some brands have a solid and exciting brand history that they can capture as digital images, videos, audio files, and more. You can then mint these assets into unique NFTs and offer them to your brand’s fans and consumers.

It’s a new form of storytelling that has a major impact on brand awareness, as users leave with a piece of your brand’s history; plus, it has the potential to generate revenue benefits for your business.

Similar to the first tweet by Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, he sold it as an NFT for a staggering $3 million. In addition to gross revenue, the deal made global headlines, attracting attention from all directions.

Convert physical products into NFTs

Another way to spread the word through NFTs is to create digital versions of your brand’s individual products and mint them as NFTs. You can then sell these digital assets as clothing for avatars in online games, or distribute them on the internet in different ways.

You can also try casting new products that are not yet on the market to get a feel for the land and see how they perform in the real market.

Many large companies such as Nike, Gucci, and Coca-Cola have successfully experimented with this use case of NFTs. In the case of Gucci and Nike, their products fit well into this strategy, while in the case of Coca-Cola, they did not make soft drinks, but branded apparel.

Users typically acquire these NFTs using Ethereum or other cryptocurrencies and present them in a virtual environment where they meet and interact.

Organizing NFT contests and giveaways

NFTs are fast becoming a thing, and many see them as a way to diversify their investments, which explains why they are so popular. By offering unique and collectible NFTs for free or as part of a contest where users need to interact with your brand in some way, this creates an opportunity to attract a large crowd to your brand.

For example, you can mint these NFTs to give owners access to conferences or events where your brand will appear, or you can use these tokens to partner with influencers with brand reps, customer service reps, or even offer one-on-one Q&A sessions.

Collaborate with NFT artists to create branded digital collectibles

Strategic partnerships are a proven way to increase brand awareness. Partnering with well-known NFT creators and auction sites that already have a large following will help you get the word out faster in the case of NFTs. Since this is a relatively new development, it’s critical to act quickly so you can build stronger connections that are better for your business.

Many companies are already using this tactic, which is similar in many ways to influencer marketing. Some NFT artists are so popular that almost everything they post goes viral. For example, artist FEWOCiOUS made $3 million for his NFT sneakers for the RTFKT shoe brand, even though the brand is relatively new and unknown.

What’s next for NFTs in marketing

NFTs offer brands and marketers with rich content or products the opportunity to create unique experiences on NFT-enabled platforms. Plus, they provide the perfect gateway for brands to push their marketing into the emerging metaworld in a simple and scalable way.

Due to the uniqueness of each token and the ease of ownership verification, NFTs can be used in conjunction with existing marketing strategies to make them more effective and personalized. Additionally, minting NFTs is a whole new way of repurposing content, and the possibilities are endless.

Building brand awareness is just one of the many benefits that NFTs offer in marketing. Other uses include creating consistent messaging across multiple platforms, incentivizing sales, and creating an online presence with real value.

bottom line

NFTs are a relatively new form of digital collectibles that can be used for marketing, and their future is bright. There is no denying that they have the potential to become an important part of advertising in the near future.

By tagging events, collaborating with NFT artists, organizing NFT contests , and in general, following the tips you find in this article, you can take advantage of current trends to boost your brand.

Remember, these are just five of the many ways NFTs can be used in marketing. In addition to brand awareness, NFTs offer many different new and exciting opportunities due to the power of smart contracts. If you’re smart, you’re already thinking about how to implement this in your business
